More often, it starts quietly \u2014 usually around 3am \u2014 when you\u2019re staring at the ceiling thinking, <\/span><em><span style=\"font-family:'Segoe UI', sans-serif;\">Surely this can\u2019t be it<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-family:'Segoe UI', sans-serif;\">, while mentally drafting your resignation letter for the fifteenth time.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family:'Segoe UI', sans-serif;\">The truth is, admitting something isn\u2019t working takes courage. Whether it\u2019s your job, your habits, or those \u201cwork friends\u201d who drain your energy faster than your dodgy office WiFi, acknowledging the problem is the first uncomfortable step. It\u2019s easier to keep muddling along, hoping that skipping a meeting or blaming the broadband will magically fix the bigger issue. It won\u2019t.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family:'Segoe UI', sans-serif;\">Fear shows up the moment you even <\/span><em><span style=\"font-family:'Segoe UI', sans-serif;\">consider<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-family:'Segoe UI', sans-serif;\"> doing something different. Fear of failing. Fear of judgement. Fear of swapping one nonsense situation for another. But courage isn\u2019t the absence of fear \u2014 it\u2019s choosing to act anyway. Even tiny steps count: updating your CV, saying no without adding seventeen apologies, or deciding you deserve more than caffeine\u2011fuelled survival.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family:'Segoe UI', sans-serif;\">From a coaching perspective, the shift happens when you stop treating failure like a catastrophe and start treating it as evidence you tried. Discomfort becomes less of a punishment and more of a bridge \u2014 the awkward middle bit between \u201cstuck\u201d and \u201cthriving.\u201d And when you reconnect with your <\/span><strong><span style=\"font-family:'Segoe UI', sans-serif;\">why<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family:'Segoe UI', sans-serif;\">, the fear stops feeling like a wall and starts feeling like a mildly irritating speed bump.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family:'Segoe UI', sans-serif;\">Support matters too \u2014 but not from the colleague who tells you to \u201cjust be grateful you\u2019ve got a job.\u201d You need people who get it, who won\u2019t let you settle, who remind you that you\u2019ve already survived office politics, passive\u2011aggressive emails, and performance reviews delivered with fake smiles. You can handle change.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family:'Segoe UI', sans-serif;\">So, start where you are. Ask yourself what\u2019s working, what isn\u2019t, and what absolutely isn\u2019t worth another year of your life.
